The luckiest marketers I know all have one thing in common: strategy

There’s a saying I love: "The harder I work, the luckier I get."

It gets tossed around every March around St. Patrick’s Day, and every year I think — yes. That.

The B2B companies that seem to “get lucky” with leads, referrals, and growth aren’t lucky at all. They made intentional decisions about their marketing. They didn’t just do more — they did the right things, in the right order.

Which brings me to something I hear constantly from business owners:

“There’s so much out there. I don’t even know where to start.”

I started Sea Salt & Seltzer because of that exact frustration.

THE REAL PROBLEM ISN’T LACK OF MARKETING OPTIONS

It’s too many of them.

LinkedIn or Instagram? Paid ads or SEO? Email campaigns or thought leadership? Hire someone or outsource? Refresh the website or fix the messaging first?

Most companies end up doing a little of everything — which means they’re doing none of it well. Budget spread thin. Team stretched. Results unclear.

And they wonder why their marketing isn’t working.

WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES THINGS

Strategy. Before tactics.

We like to start every engagement with a strategy session that cuts through the noise. We ask the questions that matter:

  • What does your business actually need right now?

  • What’s working? What’s broken?

  • Where should your marketing dollars go — and where should they stop going?

  • What’s the right order of operations?

That strategy session is what tells you whether you need a new website or better messaging. Whether paid ads make sense yet or whether you’re not ready for them. Whether LinkedIn is worth your time or whether it’s just a distraction.

It’s not magic. It’s just clarity. And clarity is what makes marketing feel lucky.

THIS WEEK’S REALITY CHECK

Ask yourself: Do you have a clear, prioritized plan for your marketing in 2026 — or are you just “doing stuff” and hoping it adds up?

If it’s the latter, you don’t need more tactics. You need a strategy first.

We offer standalone Marketing Strategy sessions that give you a clear roadmap: what to do, what to stop, and in what order.

No fluff. No 47-page decks. Just a prioritized plan built around your business goals and your budget.
